ARPAC Foundation

Since its creation in 1995, the ARPAC Foundation has been coming to the aid of those in need. Thanks to draws held in the community and the involvement of recyclers and their employees, the Foundation has been able to donate to a number of charitable organizations in Quebec, in particular, Opération Enfant Soleil, the Children’s Wish Foundation and Leucan.

The Foundation also assists individuals struggling with difficult situations. It has helped fund cochlear implants for the hearing-impaired son of a member recycler’s employee, raised funds among members in 2006 to aid the father of a youngster with amputations due to meningococcal infection, and donated specialized equipment (walker with a seat used when eating) for a child in the Val-d’Or region suffering from Andermann Syndrome.

In February 2008, as part of “Hugging Month” at the Sainte-Justine Hospital, the ARPAC Foundation helped fulfill the dreams of two hospitalized boys.

The Foundation also supported a disabled athlete on the Canadian Para Olympic hockey team participating in the 2010 Winter Games. For the past four years, the Foundation has contributed to research by helping sponsor the Weekend to End Breast Cancer walk, an initiative of the Montreal Jewish General Hospital.

Thanks to its annual vehicle auction, which has been held every year since 2003, and collections conducted among ARPAC members, the Foundation has raised over $384,000 for the causes it sponsors.
